Affordable Housing

There is no funding available from the Homes and Communities Agency for any affordable housing in Stratford on Avon District. This means that in order to build the homes needed in this village, an alternative source of funding must be found. One option which has been used succesfully in other communities, is to build a combination of affordable homes and local market housing where the market housing provides a subsidy for the affordable homes. However, before this can be considered further, it is necessary to establish whether or not there is a need for local market housing. This will be done by way of a survey which will be carried out shortly. Please look on this website and in Scene for any updates.

Faster Broadband

A public meeting took place in January which was attended by 50 local residents. The Head of Customer Access at Stratford District Council, Balvinder Heran, gave a presentation which explained how SDC and its partner organisations plan to deliver a faster and more reliable broadband service to rural areas like Bishop's Itchington. This isn't just about helping those who want to download films or play games, but also local buisnesses and people working from home.

To take part in an online survey and find out more about the campaign, please click on the following link. www.warwickshire.gov.uk/superfastbroadband.

Imaging Your Past and Present

This is an exciting project organised by the archaeology department at Warwickshire County Council. The aim is to look for buildings and landscapes which are not currently protected within the planning process but which people feel are important to their communities and future generations.

People are encouraged to photograph these buildings and landscapes and upload them onto WCC's Historic Environment Record Timetrail at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/timetrail. Once photographs are on the website, staff will work with Stratford on Avon District Council to create lists of locally important buildings/landscapes which will then be consulted as part of the planning process, and is a way of getting your views heard.
